Setting Environment Variables (LINUX)

For local shell use the following format:

variable=value

variable is the variable name
value is the desired value

Set an environment variable passing to other processes :

export [-fn] [-p] [name[=value]]

-f The names refer to shell functions; otherwise the names refer to shell variables
-n No longer mark each name for export.
-p Display output in a form that may be reused as input.
